Gone But Not Forgotten: Victorian Mourning Exhibit & Tour

Simon Thornton may have died here in 1873, but Hearthside House keeps his memory alive by presenting 19th century Victorian mourning customs. Experience all of the traditions and customs embraced by Victorians, who viewed the pageantry of death as a necessary part of life, in this extensive exhibit set throughout the house, including embalming display.

Advance tickets only at scheduled times.

Note: The 4-7pm twilight tours (select dates) are low-light guided tours with dim lighting for for ambience. As such, the dimly lit tours are not recommended for those with poor vision in those conditions. For well-lighted tours, seek out the event dates with early afternoon hours.
